Xu Wang (Colonially, known as a Registered Clinical Counsellor and an Art Therapist.)

Xu Wang (they/them) is a non-binary, queer, 1.5 generation Chinese-Canadian art therapist and counsellor based in Burnaby, British Columbia. They have a deeply personal and decolonizing approach to therapy, offering a space that emphasizes anti-oppressive, intersectional practices for marginalized communities. Their therapeutic work focuses on supporting BIPOC, queer, trans, neurodivergent, disabled, and other underrepresented groups.

Xu integrates creative arts into their therapy, drawing on their personal background in art, which was influenced by their grandmother, a painter, during their upbringing in Kunming, China. They use art therapy, narrative approaches, somatic techniques, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to help clients explore and heal. In addition to individual therapy, Xu also facilitates workshops, group sessions, and clinical supervision for those seeking to decolonize mental health practices.

A key part of their work is rooted in queer and neurodivergent advocacy, and they are passionate about creating liberatory, healing spaces that acknowledge the intersections of identity, trauma, and systemic oppression.
