Dr. Lisa Covington, PhD
Dr. Lisa Covington serves on the board of the National Women’s Studies Association, Black Lives Matter at School, and a host of other grassroots organizations.
Lisa is the Director of the Ethnic Studies Leadership Academy Program in Iowa City, IA – which is a culturally responsive educational program for African and African-American girls in 7th through 12th grade to learn about EQUITY (AKA Socialism/Marxism) from the lens of African American historical figures. The youth cultivate leadership skills and engage in community activism.
Lisa is an expert in racial inequities, as well as diversity in film and social justice. She’s a curriculum developer for youth of color with professional development trainings on the best practices to support the development of underrepresented youth intended for educators, coaches, media makers and community members in pre-school through college settings in CA, PA, IA, NJ, NY and Washington, D.C.

- Visiting Graduate Student at Columbia University in NYC, NY
